In the wild, there is no guide except our own survival instinct. Motivated by our urge to stay alive, we will do anything that is unthinkable. That is, if we survive the first week living in a jungle full of malignant bugs, parasites and wild life. Human cities are designed to shelter us from unwanted living creatures which may harm our physical life. Born in one of those cities, I guaranteed that you won’t be survived more than a week if you lucky, or a day if your luck stinks. With proper preparations and training we may adapt with wild life smoothly, that’s how adaptable human being is.
From a different perspective, a city can be said a jungle too. There are many tall buildings resembling trees, with electric cables resembling root sprawling everywhere. Wait, modern cities bury their cables underground, that’s even more similar to trees then.
Living in cities, unlike in jungle, you need money to buy food and maintain your shelters. Otherwise, survival instinct may make you resort to violence in dark alleys, to rob our fellow citizen out of their money.
Imagine you are alone in a city, without anyone to contact. What would you do? Everyone you met in the street will wary of you as you are wary of them. Strangers are questionable existence, we need a help but also worry if they will ever harm us.
Those who are weak, or appear to be weak, are being targetted. No one seems trustworthy to earn our trust. In this environment we are easily lost, confuse with what to do next.
Luckily, there is a causality law in this world. Any action will begets a reaction, and the reaction is not random. There is a pattern, a smile to a stranger, 9 out of ten, the stranger will smile back. A curse to a stranger, in 8 out of ten, will result the stranger curse you back, 1 out of ten, will ignore, and the other one will hit you on the face.
Therefore, though we may lost in the wilderness of either jungles or cities, we still can stick to law of causality to help us out of the misery. Even in the jungle, if you can find a way to be in harmony with wild life, they do not easily disturb you, off course we need to prepare a detterent, in case out of nowhere, a malicious wild life want to eat us. However, in general, law of causality is the one you need to hold on in bad circumstances.
Law of causality also dictate that, we need to take action first, before anyone can help us. And the first action that we can take, is to think good about ourselves first. Then you can get help from yourself. Thats the first, later on, if you can help yourself first, then other may help you as well.
Life is a struggle, if we unable to connect with others and ourselves, but a paradise if you can connect to at least ourselves, be kind and always smile to yourselve, then others will start to be kind and smile to you as well
